ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 1
The ASTM A537/A537M steel standard is one of the most widely used and adopted structural steel standards. It defines a range of grades for use in high-strength and intermediate-temperature applications. The ASTM A537/A537M steel standard was first developed in 1959 and has been revised many times over the years.
ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 2
ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 2 is a normalized steel and is used in normal temperature applications such as pressure vessels and heat exchangers. The relative strength of ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 2 steel is approximately 15% higher than regular carbon steel. Due to its moderate strength and high corrosion resistance, ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 2 steel is typically used in applications such as storage tanks, pumps, pipelines, and valves where pressure or temperature levels are moderate.
ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 3
Yield strength is another mechanical property of ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 3 steel, which is the amount of stress a material can withstand before it starts to deform permanently. The yield strength depends on the class of the steel; for ASTM A537/A537M A537 Class 3 Class 1 steel it ranges from 345MPa to 690MPa, for Class 2 it ranges from 415MPa to 690MPa, and for Class 3 it ranges from 415MPa to 660MPa. This range of yield strength makes it ideal for applications which require a high level of resistance, such as pressure vessels and boilers.
