ASTM A790/A790M S82441 Material Mechanical Properties
The most important attribute of any material is its tensile strength. This is a measure of its ability to resist breaking under a tensile force, or a force in the opposite direction of the plane of the material. ASTM A790/A790M S82441 steel has excellent tensile strength, with a minimum yield strength of 275MPa and a tensile strength of between 515 MPa to 690 MPa.
The mechanical properties of the ASTM A790/A790M S82441 steel are as follows:

ASTM A790/A790M S82441 Material Machining Technology
When turning and milling ASTM A790/A790M S82441 steel, the type of cutting tool used can have an effect on the speed and accuracy of the machining operation. High-speed steel (HSS) and carbide cutting tools are the most common, with HSS commonly used for high-speed applications and carbide for finishing operations. It is recommended to use a coated carbide tool for increased performance, as this will reduce tool wear and increase cutting speed. Additionally, a positive rake angle should be used for turning operations and a negative one for milling operations in order to ensure maximum results.
