EN 10083-2 C60 Introduce

The EN 10083-2 standard is intended to provide a common set of requirements and delivery conditions for non-alloy and alloy steels for quenching and tempering when used in automotive, engineering and construction applications. It is divided into three parts and applies to product types such as cold- and hot-rolled, drawn, forged or peeled-rolled flat and long products. The standard also specifies the chemical and mechanical properties that product steels need to meet along with the technical delivery requirements that apply.

Smelting temperature:1983°C - 1628°C

Application:Quenched and tempered steel - Part 2: Technical delivery conditions for non-alloy steel

EN 10083-2 C60 Material Mechanical Properties

Tensile strength is a measure of a material's ability to resist strains that cause it to stretch or elongate when placed under a load or force. Tensile strength is calculated by dividing the force (in newtons) by the area over which the force is applied (in square meters). The tensile strength of EN 10083-2 C60 steel is typically between 700 and 900 MPa.

The mechanical properties of the EN 10083-2 C60 steel are as follows:

EN 10083-2 C60 Material Machining Technology

The machining of EN 10083-2 C60 steel is best achieved using high speed steel tools with a positive rake angle and a finishing tool with a very low torque. In order to produce a smooth surface finish, it is important to control the cutting forces throughout the machining process.
