EN 10083-2 C40 Introduce
The European standard EN 10083-2 is an important steel standard that governs the delivery conditions for non-alloy and alloy steels for quenching and tempering with a specified minimum yield strength (ranging from 235 to 700 MPa). The standard applies to a wide variety of products, including cold- and hot-rolled, drawn, forged or peeled-rolled flat and long products. These products are suitable for use wherever a good strength is required.
Smelting temperature:1723°C - 1383°C
Application:Quenched and tempered steel - Part 2: Technical delivery conditions for non-alloy steel

EN 10083-2 C40 Material Mechanical Properties
Tensile strength is a measure of a material's ability to resist strains that cause it to stretch or elongate when placed under a load or force. Tensile strength is calculated by dividing the force (in newtons) by the area over which the force is applied (in square meters). The tensile strength of EN 10083-2 C40 steel is typically between 700 and 900 MPa.
The mechanical properties of the EN 10083-2 C40 steel are as follows:

EN 10083-2 C40 Material Machining Technology
The machining of EN 10083-2 C40 steel is best achieved using high speed steel tools with a positive rake angle and a finishing tool with a very low torque. In order to produce a smooth surface finish, it is important to control the cutting forces throughout the machining process.
